Issue #133 - September Remembered

. September 2018 .

 Hello!
Here we are at the end of September. Another month goes whizzing by!
A little quieter, and a few less pics etc too.
We didn't go too far in September, which was nice.  The weather has been a bit average at times as well, but at least no significant storms have come anywhere near us.  Let's hope it stays that way.
In September we had the Annual Touch Dinner - yep, another themed costume party.  The kids had their first swim meet of the new season.  We popped out to see the Stingrays a couple of weeks back, and Jake gets a haircut.
Touch Dinner
The theme for this year's Touch Dinner was "Emojis"
The Heineken Team (Dave's Team) pondered that one and came up with their take on the theme.... "Emo-Cheese".  Sounds the same!
Emo is a kind of Music genre and also a term for those that dress a bit like Punk-rock/Goth types with a bit of emotion thrown in.  Cheese - well, that was easy!
"Emo-Cheese!"
So, there you have it.
Other people came as the Blonde Dancing lady in the red dress, Mexicans looked great.  Nobody came as the Smiling Poo because they all thought everyone else would do that one...
Beautiful!

Ole!

Trophy for the most tries (Female)
Dave won a prize too.  In the raffle!
Not sure that these cheeses have aged that well...
Tim, the guy with the neck tattoos got up the next day and took his son into town for a haircut.  He'd forgotten about the tats, and got some strange looks from people...

A fun night, as always.  Some sore heads wandering about the following day
Boat Day

We headed out to Stingray city one sunday for Mick's birthday.  The weather was nice, there weren'ttoo many boats about and we had some fun in the sun...and the water!

Be careful where you step!

Boat jumping - aways fun!

A nice end to the day
  Sprint Meet
The first swim meet of the season was held last weekend.  It was a sprint meet, with just the one session so all went fairly quickly, which was a bonus as it was a really hot morning!
Some mentoring going on by the Seniors.  Great to see.
The meet was all 50m races, and the 100m IM. The kids both did all of those events and got at least one PB each, which was good for this stage of the season.

Jake and co dancing before their race.
I wish we'd video'd that!

While the kids were swimming, the National Touch Teams were training over the back fence.
They are getting ready for the US Touch Nationals in San Diego in a few weeks.  Michelle is playing in the women's team.

(or Loona-tic)
We also popped out to Kaibo one sunday for another friends birthday.  The girls had a night there the night before so the rest of us came out on the sunday to scrape them up.  It was a fairly quiet sunday afternoon with one or two of the party gang a little less animated than usual. But it was very nice and relaxing all the same.

And land...

Nice quiet spot!
 Jake's Hair Removal
A few months back, Jake decided he was going to grow his hair and get it shaved as part of a fundraising event that is held here each year for Child Cancer.
Before - no problems growing it!
During the shave at school
After!

Sam did this last year - although not the shave, just a big cut, so was happy to support Jake through the event.

 Hmmmm.... any comparisons here?
The pic on the right is when Dave joined the Army a wee while back....

A few of the the other swim kids got in on the act as well.

Beach sunsets never grow old...

So, that's it for September.  A little more subdued.... maybe!

Next Month:
Michelle goes walkabout.... or maybe Flyabout
US Touch Nationals from San Diego
Annual Rugby Dinner with a Sevens Legend

See you then!
:)
