. March 2015 .

Hello there!
Wow! Another month down the tube.  And a fun month it was!  Plenty of beach and water time for all!  Most of it leisurely!
We even had a visit from our friends from up the road a bit.
So, not a lot of chat this month, but quite a few pics for you to look at - which may suit some people...

800m Open Water Relay
As a fundraiser for the local swimming association the 800m Open water relay was held the other weekend.  Sam and some of her swim mates formed a team which included Skyler, who came down from Vancouver.
Pre-race: Ella, Sam, Sky and Ali

And the side-on pose!

Michelle also had a team.

They had an extra one in their team!
And Jake too! Although it looks like the other two didn't stay for the prize giving.

It was a successful event with about 25 teams taking part.  Sam's team, Michelle's Team and Jake's team all came 2nd or 3rd in their respective groups.  Not a bad effort!

Touch
A couple of teams escaped the snow of New York and came down to Cayman for a weekend of Touch and sun.  They got plenty of both.
Michelle was selected for one of the Cayman teams that would take the New Yorkers on.  There were some good games and some close games. In the end the final was a tied affair but it seemed like a fair result.

"Sub!!!"
 Visitors
As we mentioned earlier, our good friends Tonya, Russ, Keegan, Skyler and Garrett came down from Vancouver to spend some time in their old stomping ground.  Russ and Skyler came down in time for the 800m relay and it also happened to be Sky's birthday, so she had a small gathering on the beach with a bunch of her old school mates.
Russ emerges from the sea...

Sky and the gang

Jake and a couple of his mates pretend not to annoy the girls.

Cake time!

There were a bunch of nice sunsets over the week.  We happened to be there for a few!

Phones are never far away!

We took a couple of Jet Skis out for a spin as well

Clearly Jake didn't think much of that.

Sky had a blast going fast!
We're off!

More boring sunsets...

"Avast! Therrrre be Pirates!"

We enjoyed a nice Brunch on the Sunday morning, which was followed by a day out on the water.  We did a bit of snorkelling. Played with the Stingrays at Stingray City, and also popped over to Starfish point.
You can't come to Cayman and not do Stingray City!

Some of them aren't so camera-shy

The O'Connors of Vancouver

Hello there!

Thirsty work!

Abandon ship!

Starfish point was the next stop

The gang

Time to head back after a great day

So, that was pretty much our month!
Sam also popped up to Fort Lauderdale for a swim camp one weekend - but she wouldn't share any pics from that.  They did have a great time though. They spent some time with some accomplished swimmers and heard how they prepare for races and gave them some tips on training, and meet preparation, nutrition and the like.

Michelle was in New York for about a week for work but no time for sightseeing, and only a couple of hours all up for some sneaky shopping. She got to visit quite a few nice offices, one of which was on the top floor of the World Trade Centre - some pretty amazing views from there! It was pretty cold there and she was very pleased she managed to get out a few hours before they closed the airport because of the snow! She was very thankful for all the borrowed winter woollies...brrrrr!

What's on in April?
We all head for Barbados for Easter weekend - and to watch Sam and the rest of the swim team at the Carifta swim meet (Caribbean champs).
The Cayman Rugby Team takes on Mexico for the Northern Caribbean title. Watch it live and free on www.caymanrugby.com (TV Tab) - 11 April 6pm Cayman time.
Jake heads to Florida for a Junior Swim Tour!

Catch ya then!
:)
